Product Description

Glacier Lagoon tour takes you to visit the charming village of Vík and continues through spectacular scenery, lava fields, and a black sandy desert all the way to the magnificent Glacier Lagoon Jokullsarlon (Jökullsárlón) where we will take a boat ride among the multi-shaped icebergs. You will also be able to walk between the icebergs on so-called “Diamond” or “Crystal” beach. This is a black sand beach at the coastline near the Glacier Lagoon and, very often, there are many icebergs washed up on to the beach which makes for a spectacular view (please note: this cannot be guaranteed, it depends on the tide/the wind, etc. whether and how many icebergs will be washed up there).

Our journey continues on to Skaftafell National Park as we make a stop at Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue. As we make our way back towards Reykjavik we might be able to catch a glimpse of the eternal kiss of the Icelandic trolls along the way, before we will visit the serene, beautiful 100-meter deep Fjadragljufur (Fjaðrárgljúfur) canyon. We will also make a stop at one of the most famous and beautiful waterfalls – Seljalandsfoss waterfall. There will also be extra stops if time allows.

Glacier Lagoon tour is truly something you will never forget!

In summer the tour includes a Zodiac boat ride

  • May to September: 32.900 ISK including Zodiac boat ride (an exciting 60-minute long ride on a speed boat)
  • When the boat ride is not available during winter the price is 24.900 ISK

Please note that children shorter than 100 cm are not advised to participate on Zodiac boat.

WINTER VERSION of the Glacier Lagoon tour

We do reserve the right to alter the tour as needed if road or weather conditions are unfavorable. The boats do not operate during winter. Fjaðrargljúfur may not be accessible in winter conditions (depends on the amount of snow and road conditions). But other extra stops will be made. Due to fewer daylight hours in November to February, much of the driving to and from the sights will be in darkness, but the main sight of this tour – Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon will be visited during daylight.

All departures require a minimum number of participants in order to operate; 4 persons. Gateway to Iceland reserves the right to delay, alter or cancel any tour due to weather or any other unsafe conditions for the safety of our clients.

“Glacier Lagoon tour”

We had amazing day seeing the south coast and glacier lagoon. We also had a great view of the northern lights. Also, Gummy is an awesome guide/driver/storyteller/northern lights hunter! Best day of our trip to Iceland.

“Fantastic tours with an excellent, passionate guide”

I can honestly not recommend this company enough! We had two fantastic tours with them for the Northern Lights and to the Jokulsarlon Glacier Lagoon.

In my opinion, the glacier lagoon was the icing on the cake. Unmissable! Firstly I think it's important to state just how good our guide was. We were lucky enough to have Gummi (the owner of the company) for both tours and he really is so passionate about his job, his country and the places you visit. His knowledge of the places we passed along the way went much further than merely pointing out obvious facts. The tour felt like a personal journey as he immersed us in historical and geographical information, and told us interesting stories about people and places which may have otherwise seemed insignificant as we passed them by. He really puts the customer first as he made it clear that any time we wanted to stop the bus for a photo opportunity was absolutely fine. To demonstrate this, it is a 14 hour tour to Jokulsarlon, but our tour lasted nearly 16... Sorry Gummi, I know it was a late one!

I also highly recommend the Northern Lights tour. We were picked up from the main bus station and we saw other tours where up to 5 large coach loads of people were herded into a cramped bus like cattle. We were taken to several different spots (and saw the lights). Mainly because Gummi wanted to ensure that we had every opportunity to see them at their best.

Thank you Gateway to Iceland for making our holiday a truly memorable experience!

“Great tour company!”

I joined the Glacier Lagoon tour with GTI and it was such a great experience! The guide (the director of the company) is a professional and from him we learned so much about Iceland and its geography. Unlike most tour guides, he gave us freedom, time-wise, to visit each site. No strict timing like "you have to be back to the bus in 15 minutes". No time restriction, no stress, and you are allowed to suggest photo stops along the way. I love their style.

The Glacier Lagoon tour is absolutely amazing! We stopped at many sites along the way, fantastic! Totally worth the money.

We didn't (and should have) joined their Northern Lights tour. We were told the guide would drive farther than planned just so you could see the Lights.

This is the best tour company I've ever encountered. Smaller company but extra professionalism. They really want the clients to see as much as possible. I highly recommend them to anyone visiting Iceland. I will definitely go with them next time I'm back to the country.

“In Iceland, Gateway to Iceland, (GTIce.is) is the only way to go”

This was our second Iceland tour with Gateway to Iceland. They are the best. The tours we did with them were different than the tours we did last time. They arranged our hotels, tours, horseback riding, a boat trip through the icebergs, climbing up the waterfalls etc.. All we needed was the air to get to Iceland.
We did 2 different tours with Gummi, the Snaefellsnes tour and the Glacier Lagoon tour. There is no one better to travel with. His knowledge, his personality, his caring mannerisms and his ability to communicate in the English language make him a superb guide for any trip.
We used Bob Murray to plan both this trip and our last trip.
It is a pleasure to be able to have trust in a tour operator to plan your vacation and know that everything will be handled perfectly.
Thank you guys for another superb trip.

“Fist class tours with expert local guides”

Went on 3 tours with this company and received great value for money, loads of local information both historical and geographical. Would recommend the Ice lagoon, Hot Golden Circle tour and the Snaefellsnes peninsula. Would have gone on the other tours but ran out of time. We were taken to the most amazing scenery and allowed plenty of time.Much thought was put into the food stops where excellent homemade fare was on offer. The guides were really interesting and friendly and put a great deal of effort into making sure everyone had fun. Contrast this with the one trip we took with Gray Line where there was virtually no commentary. As with any trip on Iceland you should go prepared for any weather by wearing layers. Cameras are a must and your senses will be blown away by the scale and beauty of the landscapes. When we return to Iceland we'll be booking more of Gateway to Iceland tours.

“Best Tour Company”

I took a Glacier Lagoon tour in March and could not have been more pleased with the service, tour value, and overall experience! Since I was online in Iceland a couple of days, they helped me really take full of advantage of seeing a huge scope of things on the one tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable, humorous and very helpful plus very proud of his country's culture and heritage. After the tour I felt like I had been given a very special glimpse of why Iceland is such an amazing place. I highly recommend this tour company.

Glacier lagoon with boat (zodiac) trip

Fantastic Day with Hugi. All day he took us to everywhere on the road, towards and from the glacier lagoon. Conclusion: we saw much more than we paid for. The explications from our tourguide were interesting, told us not only the text-book facts but also "the inside" information. We left Reykjavik at 08:00, and were back around midnight. We stopt for a Hot meal on our wat back. We only can advice this company for there professionalism and personal touch. Small groups is the best way, You meet as a stranger but depart as friends. When we are back in iceland, we know who to call! Thank you for a wonderful Day!
