Product Description

Glacier Lagoon tour takes you to visit the charming village of Vík and continues through spectacular scenery, lava fields, and a black sandy desert all the way to the magnificent Glacier Lagoon Jokulsarlon (Jökulsárlón) where you can take a boat ride among the multi-shaped icebergs. You will also be able to walk between the icebergs on the so-called “Diamond” or “Crystal” beach. This is a black sand beach at the coastline near the Glacier Lagoon and, very often, there are many icebergs washed up on to the beach which makes for a spectacular view (please note: this cannot be guaranteed, as it depends on the tide/the wind, etc. whether and how many icebergs will be washed up there).

Our journey continues on to the turf church at Hof (Hofskirkjaand then Skaftafell National Park where we make a stop at Svínafellsjökull glacier tongue. As we make our way back towards Reykjavik we might be able to catch a glimpse of the eternal kiss of the Icelandic trolls along the way, before we will visit the serene, beautiful 100-meter deep Fjadrargljufur (Fjaðrárgljúfur) canyon (may not be accessible). We will also make a stop at one of the most famous and beautiful waterfalls – Seljalandsfoss. There may also be extra stops if time allows.

The Glacier Lagoon tour is truly something you will never forget!

Price for the Glacier Lagoon tour without a boat ride is 19.900 ISK.

From May to September: Zodiac boat ride available for additional 9.700 ISK per adult (6.200 ISK per youth).
Have you ever wondered what do glaciers look like up front? Take the 60 min exciting ride on a fast rib-boat and get up close to the icebergs! You will take a gentle stroll in-between dozens of them floating in the lagoon on their way to the open sea, followed by a stop right in front of Vatnajökull – Europe’s biggest glacier. Have your cameras ready for a unique photo opportunity to show your friends where does Iceland get its name from.

Note: if you are booking the tour for May to September, we highly recommend to book the tour with the boat ride! Our experience is that nearly all passengers who book without the boat ride then change their mind once arriving at the lagoon, however that is too late to book the seats for the boats. Do not miss out on the adventure!

For booking the tour with the boat ride, please select “Glacier Lagoon tour with Zodiac boat ride” from the drop-down menu at the top of the booking form (the price displayed then is including the boat ride).
Please note, children shorter than 100 cm / 3.3 feet are not advised to participate on Zodiac boats. (In that case at least one parent has to book the tour without the boat ride too).

WINTER VERSION of the Glacier Lagoon tour

We do reserve the right to alter the tour as needed if road or weather conditions are unfavorable. The boats do not operate during the winter. Fjaðrargljúfur may not be accessible in winter conditions (depends on the amount of snow and road conditions). But other extra stops will be made. Due to fewer daylight hours from November to February, much of the driving to and from the sights will be in darkness, but the main sight of this tour – Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon will be visited during daylight hours.

All departures require a minimum of 4 participants in order to operate. Gateway to Iceland reserves the right to delay, alter or cancel any tour due to weather or any other unsafe conditions for the safety of our clients.
Fjaðrárgljúfur: the walking paths are under constructions, so the sight is not accessible at the moment.
Svínafellsjökull: the road up to the glacier tongue is in a dangerous state, therefore this sight has to be skipped until further notices.

“Glacier Lagoon and South Coast tour–best day trip out of Reykjavik”

karenkimduong; New York City, New York

I did the Glacier Lagoon day tour and it was well worth the time and money! Especially if you don't have a long trip planned in Iceland because this tour gives you the best stops along the beautiful south coast and culminates in what I think is the highlight of my 4 day trip to Iceland--the breathtaking and surreal Glacier Lagoon Jokulsarlon!! The zodiac boat ride in the lagoon was well worth it--such a rare and incredible experience to ride among icebergs (and you really can't take a bad picture of this place it's that amazing!).

I did the tour with Andres A. and he was the best tour guide I had while in Iceland! He's full of knowledge about the country and you can tell he really cares about sharing all that he knows about this magical place--there are no such things as stupid questions to be asked and he's more than happy to answer any questions we had. He even thought about the best time of day for lighting and weather to stop at certain places he wanted to show us along the south shore. He went above and beyond what I expected out of a tour guide--it felt like we were being guided by a new friend! He had plenty of stories to share with us when we kept asking about the sagas and the folklore of Iceland it kept us entertained! He has such a warm and kind energy and he never rushed us during the long day which is a nice relaxing change from other tours where you're supposed to be on a strict timetable. Can't say enough nice things but this was the best day I had and I can't wait to come back to Iceland!

Had a fantastic day on the tour with a small group and an expert guide (Bjorn) who told great stories, was so expertly informed and introduced us to some great Icelandic music on the way home. Fantastic way to celebrate my birthday. Highly recommend these guys if ever you visit Iceland.

We had amazing day seeing the south coast and glacier lagoon. We also had a great view of the northern lights. Also, Gummy is an awesome guide/driver/storyteller/northern lights hunter! Best day of our trip to Iceland.

“Best Tour Company”

I took a Glacier Lagoon tour in March and could not have been more pleased with the service, tour value, and overall experience! Since I was online in Iceland a couple of days, they helped me really take full of advantage of seeing a huge scope of things on the one tour. The tour guide was knowledgeable, humorous and very helpful plus very proud of his country's culture and heritage. After the tour I felt like I had been given a very special glimpse of why Iceland is such an amazing place. I highly recommend this tour company.
