As we enter the southernmost tip of Iceland, we will stop and see the black sands of Reynisfjara and Vík village just on the other side of the mountain! Both stops offer a stunning view of the sea stacks just off the coast. Please check out the full tour description here.
(Pickup Time: 8:30 – 9:00 AM, approximately 6 hours long)
- Reykjanes peninsula & driving through lava fields
- Kleifarvatn, Grænavatn lakes
- Krýsuvík geothermal area
- Gunnuhver steaming mud pools
- Reykjanesviti Lighthouse & bird cliffs
- The Bridge between the continents
The Reykjanes Peninsula is an incredibly active and dynamic region, containing one of the largest lava outflows in Iceland, and we want to take you there! You will visit the gorgeous Kleifarvatn and Grænavatn lakes that sit right on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. Just down the road, it is hard to miss the striking soil colors of the Krýsuvík geothermal area and the bubbling mud pools of Gunnuhver. The Reykjanesviti Lighthouse is the oldest in Iceland, which lies right next to the Valahnukar bird cliffs, overlooking the wild North Atlantic Ocean. You will then get to straddle both continental plates on the Bridge between the continents. After the tour, we offer a complimentary dropoff at KEF airport (~2:30pm), the Blue Lagoon (~2:45pm), or back to downtown Reykjavík (~3:30pm). Read our full tour description here.
Snæfellsnes National Park
(Pickup Time: 8:30 – 9:00 AM, approximately 11 hours long)
This Snaefellsnes Peninsula Tour will give you the unique opportunity to see many of the main hot spots of West Iceland! The 1,450-meter Snaefellsjokull (Snæfellsjökull) volcano glacier within the Snæfellsnes National Park is a site not to be missed. We will make our way along the peninsula with the sea to our left and contrasting mountainous landscape on our right, which includes the impressive Gerðuberg basalt columns. The small fishing village and hamlet in Arnarstapi provide a cozy view of the region’s fishing culture. On the north side of the Peninsula, we will check out the iconic church-shaped mountain Kirkjufell and its partnering waterfall Kirkjufellsfoss. Take the challenge with the Stones of Trial at Djúpalónssandur beach (not accessible in winter). Read our full tour description here.
(Pickup Time: 7:30 – 8:00 AM, approximately 14 hours long)
Our Glacier Lagoon tour is an unforgettable journey all the way out to the southeast corner of Iceland! Starting with a visit at the well-known town of Vík, we will continue all the way to the Glacier Lagoon Jokulsarlon (Jökulsárlón) that shimmers at the base of Vatnajökull glacier tongues. You will have the chance across the street then to explore the so-called “Diamond” or “Crystal” beach. On our way back to Reykjavík, we will stop at the turf church at Hof (Hofskirkja). The deep Fjadragljufur (Fjaðrárgljúfur) canyon is a humbling site as well. The Seljalandsfoss waterfall will be a perfect way to finish the tour before we make our way back to civilization. Read our full tour description here.
Please note, we recommend choosing between South Coast and Glacier Lagoon as they have partially similar itinerary (the drive to the Glacier Lagoon is the same drive as South Coast, just extended; and both tours visit Seljalandsfoss and Vík).
