South Coast of Iceland from Reykjavík: Itinerary

Pick up from Reykjavik: Easy Start

Our tour begins with a convenient pick-up from your Reykjavik hotel or designated point between 8:30 and 9:00 AM. You’ll meet your friendly tour guide and board our comfortable minibus, ready for a fantastic day.

Skógafoss: A Majestic Waterfall

Our first stop is the majestic Skógafoss waterfall. This waterfall is one of the biggest in Iceland, with a drop of some 60 meters (almost 200 feet) and a width of 25 meters (82 feet). You can walk right up to it and even climb the steps next to the falls for a bird’s-eye view.

Dyrhólaey: A Natural Arch

Next, we’ll stop at Dyrhólaey, a 120-meter-high (400 feet) rock arch that is home to a variety of birdlife. In mid-summer, you might even be lucky enough to see some puffins here!

Reynisfjara: A Black Sand Beach

Our next stop is Reynisfjara, a black sand beach with basalt columns and caves. This beach is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Iceland, and it’s easy to see why. The dramatic cliffs and rock formations are truly a sight to behold.

Vík: A Quaint Village

We’ll then stop in the village of Vík, the southernmost village in Iceland. Here, you’ll have the opportunity to have some lunch and try some black crust pizza, a local specialty.

Sólheimajökull: A Glacier Tongue

Our next stop is Sólheimajökull Glacier, a glacier tongue that stretches from the greater ice cap Mýrdalsjökull. We’ll take a walk to a viewpoint where you can admire the glacier and learn about the effects of climate change.

Seljalandsfoss: A Waterfall You Can Walk Behind

Our final stop is Seljalandsfoss, one of Iceland’s most famous and picturesque waterfalls. The water here falls from the Eyjafjöll mountainside, 60 meters (almost 200 feet) into the pool below. Take a walk behind the falls for a truly unique experience.

Return to Reykjavik: End Your Day

We’ll return to Reykjavik, dropping you off at your original pick-up location between 6:00 and 7:00 PM.
